ADD Symptoms
It
is characterized by adults and very often children, not
functioning to their full potential. Often the sufferer with ADD
will be unable to communicate in an appropriate way. They will
have trouble maintaining their concentration and often go from
one thing to another without completing or understanding what is
expected of them. Very often these behaviours are inconsistent
and incoherent so it is hard to gauge what the underlying
problem is or even how that particular person will respond to
things going on around them. This makes life very difficult for
the family / parent or educator to support them. Their
concentration is not able to be followed through and very often
from sentence to sentence, their mind will flip onto another
track entirely.
|
The first
step in the HET process is to translate behaviours into
the Bach Flower remedies. Behaviour is an emotional
barometer and by treating negative emotions and
transmuting them into positive emotions in this way, we
monitor the changing behaviours to positive and desirable
outcomes. This approach reduces stress for the individual
concerned. |
Unlike
Attention Deficit HYPERACTIVE disorder or ADHD, the symptoms do
not include the fidgetiness, demanding or impulsive behaviours
included in this diagnosis.
It
is only relatively recently that this condition has been
diagnosed and alongside this, particular types of medication
have been prescribed which can have side effects, sometimes such
side effects can be quite severe and are cited as having brain
damaging effects for the person concerned.
It
goes without saying that the people who suffer from this
condition will feel stressed out and anxious – not only are
they facing a constant overload of sensory information, but this
cannot be assimilated in the normal we process our information
handling, in a way
in which we learn and cope with life’s experience. This
explains why people who ADD sufferers appear not to learn from
past experiences or mistakes and again proving a source of great
frustration for those around them.
|
Children and adults
on the programme are shown how to match the remedies to
the way they are feeling and make remedies up for
themselves. An emotional mangement toolbox for life. |
It
is possible to learn more about how a complementary or
alternative approach can help our understanding in
supporting those with ADD.
For
this to happen, it is important to have an idea of some of the
most pioneering research into the way we learn and grow. Very
often these concepts are not integrated into the old schools of
learning – whereby children are expected to learn by rote and
traditional learning styles that are actually not appropriate
for the way we learn and will certainly create problems for the
ADD sufferer
|
Children and adults
run old negative patterns of behaviour called neural nets
based on their past expeiences. HET takes them through a
therapeutic support system based on art therapy that
assists in seeing experience through different
perspectives. This creates new experience and 'new mind
maps', which enable new patterns of behaviour to emerge. |
.
Understanding
learning approaches and stimuli for people whose brains are
wired in an ADD way is important but what has to be done is that
we need to look at that learning model in a new light and go
back and heal the damage that has been done along the way.
This
will vary from individual to individual and as we are all
different. These techniques have to be flexible and viable to
become individualised.
It’s
a little bit like taking an aspirin – we can all take an
aspirin to stem a head ache but we all have a head ache for
different reasons…
Do
we stem the pain or heal the cause?

"Your
children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of life's longing for
itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to
you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls belong in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth".
-Kahlil Gibran
